O posicionamento argentino frente ao Oriente Médio: Os discursos de Cristina Fernández de Kirchner nas Nações Unidas (2012-2015)

Resumo: Manifestações reformistas pró-democracia no Oriente Médio atingiram seu ápice em 2011. Estes movimentos, conhecidos como Primavera Árabe, geraram conflitos que motivaram uma intervenção de forças militares do Ocidente na região. Na Argentina, a agenda externa de Cristina Kirchner foi perpassada por estas questões. O objetivo deste artigo é identificar a posição do governo argentino em relação a tais acontecimentos e como a estratégia adotada dialogou com aspectos tradicionais da política externa argentina. O método utilizado foi a Análise de Conteúdo dos discursos realizados pela presidente Cristina Kirchner na Assembleia Geral da ONU entre 2012 e 2015. Os resultados preliminares indicam que a Argentina se manteve alinhada à agenda de segurança internacional, embora tenha assumido um tom crítico sobre a atuação dos EUA e aliados. Também foram pautadas a ausência de soluções diplomáticas para resolução dos conflitos, o papel do Conselho de Segurança e a necessidade de sua reforma.

Title: Argentina’s position on the Middle East: Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s speeches at the United Nations (2012-2015)
Abstract: Pro-democracy reformist demonstrations in the Middle East reached their peak in 2011. These movements, known as the Arab Spring, generated conflicts that motivated an intervention by Western military forces in the region. In Argentina, Cristina Kirchner’s external agenda has been permeated by these issues. The purpose of this article is to identify the position of the Argentine government in relation to such events and how the strategy adopted dialogued with traditional aspects of Argentine foreign policy. The method used was Content Analysis of speeches made by President Cristina Kirchner at the UN General Assembly between 2012 and 2015. Preliminary results indicate that Argentina has remained aligned with the international security agenda, although it has taken a critical tone on the performance of the USA and its allies. The absence of diplomatic solutions for conflict resolution, the role of the Security Council and the need for reform were also noted.
